Expand
JSA needs to work on expanding to Central and Northern Arizona. For central Arizona, we need to begin to look into high schools in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Glendale, Peoria, Surprise, Anthem and for Northern Arizona we need to expand into Flagstaff, Prescott, Kingman and surrounding area. These areas not only will allow us to increase our numbers and attendance at JSA Conventions but it will also introduce new economic opportunities for the Fundraising Department as we expand into these areas. In Southern Arizona, many cities already have established and strong chapters, such as Yuma and Tucson. In these cities we can focus expansion efforts to middle schools as this will allow us to build a future forefront of students who come into high school with JSA experience. As Governor I promise to ensure that the Expansion Department has an adequate amount of agents in order to get all of this done.
Network |
- Council of Chapter President calls will be more inclusive in regards to cabinet directors. Joining the Lieutenant Governor and chapter presidents on these calls will be CIA in order to ensure that CIA relations with chapters are strong which in turn will ensure that the chapter remains strong. This would greatly increase the efficiency of CIA as the verbal phone calls with the Council of Chapter Presidents can prove more effective than solely relying on emails. Other departments such as Fundraising or Convention Coordinator can also join calls at times of importance in order to communicate directly to chapter presidents about things such as methods of fundraising or vital convention information. Although the Chapter of Council Presidents is a job reserved for the Lieutenant Governor, I will work very closely with the Lieutenant Governor to ensure that these calls are productive and are keeping our chapters strong.
- A large struggle with new chapters is inexperience amongst chapter leadership. In order to aid the Expansion and CIA departments I would like to implement “sister chapters” in order to strengthen newer chapters and help chapters intermingle. The idea behind “sister chapters” is two chapters, a steady/established chapter and a newer chapter, come together to help the newer chapter grow. Both chapters will have communication via chapter leaders where the younger chapter can ask the established chapter any and all questions that wouldn't be asked to Expansion. Things such as debate ideas, interactive activity ideas, and recruitment ideas can all be shared by the chapters which will in turn help chapters bond and strengthen the new chapter to make them into a steady chapter.
Assist
- As a fellow JSAer, I firsthand understand the frustration and financial stress that convention costs bring upon each of our shoulders every time a convention approaches. Students who struggle to pay these costs should be acquitted of their suffering as we as JSA strive to make conventions more accessible to all in order to accommodate to everyone, regardless to their economic background. As your JSAZ Governor, one of my main projects will be to attain more large donors throughout the state of Arizona. My background in Fundraising allows me to understand how to approach potential donors to ensure that they contribute to our great organization. For years, we have focused solely on local donors and while this is an amazing way for community involvement and awareness, we also must place focus on attaining bigger donors to ensure that financial status is not a barrier for any student in JSAZ. We must place fundraising agents near Tucson, Phoenix, and other locations around Arizona because they have so much donor potential in order to help the state as it expands to accommodate to the changes in scholarship demand.
- JSAZ must continue to partner with Arizona foundations to help provide scholarship opportunities for students in JSAZ. This year we have partnered with the Watermark Foundation as they provided the state with three $1,820 scholarships to aid JSA students go to JSA summer school. I personally played a role in helping the Summer School Department get these scholarships and as Governor of JSAZ I will commit to pursue these partnerships to help students of JSA partake in JSA’s amazing summer school programs.
Community |
JSA is not just about aiding students to fight apathy and become politically involved, it's also about helping each and every one of its members to become model citizens. With this, comes active students within their communities. Chapters should be encouraged to attend events within their communities or do something to better their community. Community service not only progresses JSA’s mission, it also strengthens chapters and raises awareness of JSA inside communities. Chapters will be encouraged to do at least one community service project every year. Big or small, we want to ensure that JSA chapters have a strong impact in their local neighborhoods and communities. The way I want to ensure this happens is by working alongside with the Activism Department to create a single, comprehensive, and effective statewide initiative that shows our communities what JSA is all about, being the people and bringing about change in order to in turn, “Be The Change”.
Technology
- Technology is by far one of the best mediums JSA can utilize in order to get a variety of goals accomplished. For conventions, the JSApp will be made more efficient along with being given a boost in better graphics to ensure that member use is simple and satisfying. JSA Arizona will also be making convention photos more accessible to the public by posting them soon after the conventions on both the JSAZ Facebook page and the JSA Arizona website in order to allow members to view the highlights of the conventions and give them a way to encapsulate the incredible memories forever.
- The JSA Website will also be utilized more by the state as it is a great tool to use to post important updates and introduce new details to the public. The JSA Website is a great place to share exciting things happening inside of JSA that aren't necessarily correlated to the state, such as a chapter hosting a large community project or a JSA member doing something outstanding. With this, we ensure that the website is used to its best potential and it allows for the public, such as parents, potential donors, and even other JSA states, to see the good work that JSA Arizona is doing.
